Access Information

Airpane Controlpanel

Our Airpane Controlpanel provides a complete administration tool for your hosting account. The comfortable interface allows you to access your customer information and your current webspace usage, including access statistics. You may create new email accounts (IMAP), email forwardings, manage FTP accounts or SSH access, MySQL databases, and subdomains, as far as your particular hosting plan allows. For restrictions, please consult our Hosting Comparison.

The access information for our Controlpanel can be found in the email which you receive on account creation. If you don't yet have access to the Controlpanel, simply register for a new account with your existing email address by clicking on the «Register» button below the login form.

DNS Setup

Onlime allows you to manage the nameservers for your ordered domain. This happens automatically when your hosting is activated. Via the DNS Manager in our Control Panel, you can also create custom entries (DNS resource records) if you have special requirements. Please configure the three nameservers shown to the right at the registrar of your domain:

We recommend you to transfer existing domains directly to us or let us register new domains for you. Like this, you won't need to worry either about the registration or the annual renewal of your domain(s). You will get everything out of one trustworthy hand, on the same invoice from Onlime GmbH. To do so, simply search for the domain under «Domains» in our Controlpanel and register or transfer it directly.

For domain transfers from an existing registrar or another hoster to Onlime GmbH, you'll need the auth code (transfer code), and the domain must be unlocked for transfer at your current provider (transfer lock removed).

Email

Onlime allows you to access your mailbox either via IMAP (recommended) or via POP3. Unless you redirect the emails to an external address, they will stay in your mailbox, from where you can fetch them directly or view them via webmail. To set up your favorite email client, please check our tutorials.

Both receiving via the incoming mailserver (IMAP) and sending via the outgoing mailserver (SMTP) require an encrypted connection. Sending via SMTP requires authentication (same credentials as for the incoming mailserver).

Emails you send through our outgoing mailserver (SMTP) are automatically signed with the DKIM key associated with your domain. The public key is published as a DNS record so that the recipient's mailserver can verify your email. See our blog post from 2020: «Vertrauenswürdige E-Mails dank SPF & DKIM/DMARC»

For the outgoing mailserver we recommend port 465 (TLS/SSL) instead of port 25, as the latter is now blocked by many internet access providers. As an alternative to port 465, port 587 (Submission/STARTTLS) can also be used, with identical security.

FTP Upload

FTP is used as the file transfer protocol to upload your local web data to your remote web space at Onlime. Again, we follow strict security policies and only allow encrypted access to the FTP server via SSL/TLS. You will need an FTP client that supports this protocol (FTPS). For Windows users, we recommend Cyberduck or FileZilla, for macOS users we strongly recommend using Transmit.

When setting up a hosting account, a default user with corresponding password is created for you. In our Controlpanel you can create additional FTP users at any time or change their passwords. FTP users can also be limited to a specific subdirectory or set to «read-only».

The required protocol is «FTPS» (FTP over SSL/TLS) — not to be confused with SFTP (FTP over SSH)! Please make sure that you select PASV (passive mode) for the data connection. Please check our tutorials for detailed FTP client settings.

Instead of ftp.onlime.ch, our shared hosting customers may also use the actual server name web.onlime.ch, while limeDEDICATED customers use their own server name sXYZ.onlime.ch.
